Make whatever you’d like wherever you want to!
A portable blender checks all the boxes for convenience, ease of use, versatility, and transportability. Sure, you can blend a smoothie at home and carry it with you for drinking in the car or after your workout at the gym, but, if you have ever made a smoothie with protein powders or chia seeds, you know that it thickens as it sits, and then sipping it is not that pleasant.
With a portable blender you can blend your secret concoction in minutes when you are ready to drink it. The fact that you can use them anywhere as long as they are charged, makes them a really good option for travel, camping, picnics, and the office. With its small size, the Ninja Blast Portable Blender checked the boxes for ease of use and portability—I took it on my travels and on a camping trip to check out if it was versatile, powerful enough, and convenient to use.

Power Packed and Smartly Designed
One look at the Ninja Blast and you’d think it is all style over substance. Well, it sure is oh, so stylish! But once you start using it, you know that it is style and substance all rolled into one. For one, it’s cordless. A full charge takes two hours and the battery lasts for 15 blend cycles of 30 seconds. It does not struggle much while blending ice or frozen fruits and vegetables, and the powerful motor is also relatively quiet. So, if you want to use it outdoors people won’t look suspiciously at you wondering what you are up to.
The well-designed sip top is very convenient and one of the best features I personally liked about the Ninja Blast. The leakproof lid opens with a push that lifts the cover, but there is also a double push-down mechanism so the cover stays down while you sip, instead of it trying to attack your nose all the time. I also like that there is no major clean-up since there is only one cup to blend in and drink from. Running a bit of soap and water for a cycle cleans it really well and then you just rinse the rest. What’s more, the power and blend buttons are separate so there is no accidental blending while you are transporting the blender in your bag.
Vortex Blending
A lot of personal blenders require vigorous shaking, opening, and pressing down ingredients before another round of blending. The ribbed cup design in the Ninja Blast, though, creates a vortex so ingredients blend well on their own as long as you fill the cup with at least six ounces of liquid.
There are times when you have to shake the blender, especially when using nut butters or filling the cup with thickening protein powders. But it is not vigorous shaking, and I didn’t have to open the lid to push or mix ingredients. The nut butters can also stick to the cup during blending, but a few shakes and then blending again usually took care of that. On the other hand, fibrous vegetables, like kale or celery, took a few extra blending cycles when I blended them on their own and they didn’t get quite as smooth as in a regular blender or Vitamix. I found using these greens with other ingredients, like fruits or nut butters, resulted in a better texture.
It usually took only one cycle to blend fresh (non-frozen) fruits and vegetables without nut butters. Running the blender for a couple more cycles created a deeply creamy and silky texture.
Versatile
Anything I threw into the Ninja Blast it blended! Smooth and creamy black bean salsa, chunky mango chutney, marinades for meats and vegetables, nut pastes from soaked nuts, beetroot hummus and I could go on. It also made especially perfect vinaigrettes for salads. From blending smoothies with dates, nuts, and nut butters to making dips and dressings, the Ninja Blast delivered! Since it is so easy to clean and because it is small, it’s been my go-to for small tasks when cooking.
One final note…
The charging cable is short, so you have to keep it close to the charging source.
Crushes it!
The Ninja Blast is small but mighty and blends through frozen fruits and vegetables and ice as easily as it does a banana smoothie. Plus, it’s cute, and travels with you wherever you go.
