Some of the most innovative designs in the footwear industry came from adidas, with the likes of Yeezy pushing the boundaries of what footwear could be. Even without Ye spearheading these innovations, adidas has found new footing in this space with wild designs of its own, including the Adizero Aruku and Harden Vol. 9. Previously, The Three Stripes made significant strides in the 3D printing world but has slowed down on this front over the last few years. However, Zellerfeld has ushered in a new era of 3D printing with adidas heading back in this direction with an all-new slip-on silhouette.
The exact naming of this 3D-printed low-top model can’t be confirmed, though two separate documents from adidas have it listed as “CLIMACOOL” and “Climamog.” Heavy Yeezy vibes come from the 100% polyurethane slip-on, almost like the unreleased Derrick Rose DZY sneaker, with an intricate lattice structure making up the design. Open-space mesh-like construction allows for breathability, while the snug design will make the slip-on hug one’s foot akin to a Foam RNNR. Lining on the inside of the slip-on provides added comfort, and Climacool wicks and disperses sweat.
The way the sneaker is constructed is also incredible, with adidas 3D printing and then “baking” it to achieve the correct size they are manufacturing. Other 3D printing from The Three Stripes utilized Digital Light Synthesis, which processed light, oxygen, and liquid resins to create the geometric and lattice structure of the 4D midsoles.
While select influencers have been receiving pairs, the general public will have a shot at securing the first adidas Climamog colorway in 2024 through adidas Confirmed. Overseas adidas sites, including Singapore, had the pair loaded for a release in September before being taken down.
