When the streetwear gods of Supreme and Nike drop a sneaker together, it’s almost always a real hype event. However, their interpretation of the Air Max 96 is quite unusual. It will be interesting to see how the sneaker is received outside of the die-hard Supreme fan group. But the 90s runner is definitely worth a look.
No Supreme Bore

But Supreme wouldn’t be Supreme if they were content with a good 1-to-1 retro. That would probably be enough to give the somewhat forgotten Air Max 96 a proper push. But here we finally see the courage that Supreme has shown in some of the sneaker collabs that have seemed very calculated recently. That makes the Supreme x Nike Air Max 96 suddenly interesting even for notorious Supreme haters with a hype allergy.
More transparency in the sneaker game
The idea is actually quite simple. The mesh parts typical of the Air Max 96 have simply been replaced with transparent cut-outs on the toe box and on the sides. This gives a clear view of the Supreme branded insoles in classic Supreme red. Later, the choice of socks plays an important role – similar to the Clot x Nike Air Max 1 “KOD” . The rest of the upper is made of leather, which is almost always a good choice for an Air Max . The well-known box logo on the tongue, which is also surrounded by several white Supreme lettering, cannot be missed. And because you should be able to see from behind that this is a Supreme collaboration, there is also a subtle hint on the back of the Air Max 96.
