August 2024 will mark a significant release in the Nike Kobe series, introducing the Nike Kobe 9 Protro Halo Pack commemorating the legacy of the late basketball legend Kobe Bryant. This release continues the tradition established following Vanessa Bryant and Nike’s agreement to relaunch the Kobe line. The Halo series, which began with the Kobe 8 Protro Halo, is an annual tribute featuring Protro models in white colorways, released on Kobe’s birthday, August 23. This homage is a celebration of Kobe’s impact on basketball and an acknowledgment of his timeless influence on sneaker culture.
The 2024 Halo Pack will feature the Kobe 9 Protro in its standard High and Low variants. Both versions of the Kobe 9 Protro will undergo a significant internal overhaul, while externally, they will be adorned with an almost all-white finish, reflecting the Halo series’ aesthetic theme. The upper of both sneakers maintains the original engineered mesh and TPU construction, ensuring durability and support. As for the upgrades internally, the drop in Lunarlon midsole is replaced with React cushioning while a full-length Zoom Air unit is added below.
The Nike Kobe 9 Elite Protro Halo Pack will release on August 23, 2024, for the High and September 19 for the Low. The low-top will be available through Nike and select retailers online and in-store, while the high-top will be exclusive to NBHD storefronts. The retail price is set at $210 for the Kobe 9 Low, $240 for the Kobe 9 High in men’s sizing, and $120 for the Kobe 9 High and Kobe 9 EM Low in GS sizing.
