1994, the rap game changed forever when 20-year-old Christopher Wallace, who went by The Notorious B.I.G., released his debut studio album Ready to Die. The album launched him into the spotlight as one of the best rappers of the ‘90s, and to this day, it’s regarded as one of the best bodies of work in hip-hop. Today marks 30 years since the album hit shelves, and to commemorate the life and legacy of the late Christopher Wallace and the album, Timberland is teaming up with his estate for a collaboration.
From the intro to Hypnotize, where he says, “Timbs for my hooligans in Brooklyn,” to his somber track Suicidal Thoughts, “Dressed in white, I like black Timbs and black hoodies,” Biggies connection to Timberland boots runs deep. Outside of his music, Biggie was often spotted in the iconic brand.
Comprising two Timberland 6-Inch Premium Boots, one in the classic Wheat and the other in Black, we see a nubuck construction in a tonal hue. Golden lace dubraes feature Timberland branding, while an added hang tag comes with Biggie’s crown logo and an image of the album cover of Ready to Die. The baby featured on the album cover appears on the tongue, debossed into the nubuck. More nods to Biggie are found on the insole and via the black leather collar.
